Strong Families: Attendance Matters
October 15 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The “Attendance Matters” presentation will review the importance of regular school attendance for children in elementary, middle, and high school. It highlights how consistent attendance is essential for building a strong academic foundation, developing social skills, and fostering a sense of belonging within the school community. The presentation also addresses common myths about absenteeism, such as the misconceptions that occasional absences do not add up to significant learning loss or that certain groups of students are not affected by chronic absenteeism.
Absenteeism and mental health, we will explore the impact as frequent absences add to feelings of anxiety and isolation, particularly in students already facing emotional challenges. Parents will receive practical strategies for overcoming barriers to attendance. With evidence-based insights and resources, this presentation empowers parents in actively supporting their child’s education and well-being.
